‘Superform’ Installation by Bachelor of Design Students
The Bachelor of Design Program created an In Situ Installation–designed for the seating area between the B and C wings.
This was a large scale project that took up the whole seating area, made up of sharp geometric shapes and colourful tape. For this in situ installation, the students needed to keep specific dimensions in mind and work to a scale for the chosen location.
Collaboration was a key part of this installation, as everyone would be contributing to a ‘superform’ or whole unit. The forms were created as rectilinear shapes with angular edges for ease of connection by interlocking, nesting and stacking.
Even though the students were given a tight timeframe to design, execute and display this project (due to the condensed spring term), they constructed something bold and dynamic –a visual gift for everyone who passed by.
