Bachelor of Film and Television Student David Cartwright wins Best Documentary in the Canada Shorts 2018 Film Festival
Fourth-year Bachelor of Film and Television (BFTV) student David Cartwright has won Best Documentary in the Canada Shorts 2018 Film Festival, for his short documentary Walter. Cartwright and his crew developed Walter during their third year in the Bachelor of Film and Television Program. The Canada Shorts Film Festival showcases both Canadian and International artist short films, with their mission focusing on awarding work made by indie filmmakers and small film-crews.
Walter screened at the Mary Oland Theatre of the New Brunswick Museum in Saint John, New Brunswick on December 15, 2018. Read the official synopsis of Walter, below:
Walter is a short documentary about the relationship between a lonely 92-year-old man’s unique bond with the young staff of an independent movie theater. As well as Walter’s mysterious obsession with the film La La Land.
