Merging the iconic Impressionist style of Vincent van Gogh with the magic of animation, Loving Vincent, the first fully painted feature film to be created seeks to bring the vibrancy, mystery and turbulence of the artist’s life and work to the big screen.

Six former students from Sheridan College’s Trafalgar campus have ties to the new Walt Disney Animation Studios film Moana.
Congratulations to Sheridan animation grad Andy Greiling on winning the Startoon Talent contest for their creation, Sonny and Bently! Startoon is an online talent show designed to connect to creators and find new, original animated characters that could star in a series for kids aged 6 to 11. Startoon will be teaming up with Andy to make a brand new mini-pilot with a $25,000 production budget.
This past May and June, 26 students from Bachelors programs in Illustration, Animation, Photography, Interior Design and Craft & Design participated in Sheridan Bachelor Programs @Italy, a unique study abroad opportunity. Currently on view in the A wing Showcase hallway is the process and production of their amazing efforts.
Home to Canada’s largest arts school, Sheridan College has been teaching animation since 1971, and today offers a four-year bachelor’s degree in animation, as well as three post-graduate programs in computer animation, visual effects and character animation. Our graduates include Oscar nominees and winners who have helped fuel the surge in popularity of animated films by studios including Pixar, DreamWorks and Disney. Most recently, Animation Career Review named Sheridan as No. 1 among the top 100 animation schools in the world. Sheridan also offers an innovative Bachelor of Game Design and a cluster of high-demand graduate certificate programs in the gaming discipline.
Sheridan Animation alumnus Jon Klassen was recently awarded the Premier’s Provincial Award in the Creative Arts and Design category on Tuesday, November 17th, 2015. Klassen, along with six other Ontario college graduates, were presented with the award for their outstanding social and economic contributions throughout the year.
Several teams from the Bachelor of Animation Program have been rewarded with their hard work with 2nd and 3rd place at this year’s 24-HOUR FILM CONTEST sponsored by Cal State University in Long Beach, California. The winning teams were Oxozone Children (2nd place) for their film FISHTOPIA (Second-year Animation students Ruby Xia,Tale Do, Mauricio Castano, Airin Budiman, and Ruby Poon) and team Trinket Films (3rd place) for their film MONA FREEZA (First-year Animation students Victoria Richards, Veronica Osypiuk, Tara Miller, Nancy Cai, and Kenneth Leoncito). In addition, two other Sheridan films, THE INEVITABLE and POMPEII, were pre-selected for the final grouping. Sheridan College was the only institution with four films selected to the top 10.
This year during the months of May and June 2015, 24 students from Illustration, Animation, Photography & Interior Design programs took part in Sheridan’s Bachelor Programs @Italy, a unique opportunity for students to study abroad. The A-wing Showcase hallway is currently displaying the process and production of their students amazing creations during the study abroad trip.
