Breaking Bread is a new musical theatre production developed at Sheridan by Myron Genyk, who was a student last year in the Music Applied to Stage, Screen, and Interactive Visual Environments program (MASSIVE). Genyk is a composer and lyricist. Lesia Chytra, who developed the story based on her latest novel, is a bookwriter.
Earlier in November, students from Sheridan’s department of Visual and Performing Arts brought their parents to class to show them what is offered in our programs. The day began with breakfast and a show in Macdonald-Heaslip Hall. Then parents had a chance to tour our Musical Theatre – Performance studios and view mock acting and voice auditions, followed by an ensemble performance. After that, parents of students in the Technical Production for Theatre and Live Events program toured the shops, including costume-making, props, and set-building and painting (see pictures above). In the afternoon, parents watched demonstrations in our (music) recording studio and dance studios. Parents Day ended with a “sneak peek” at Theatre Sheridan’s upcoming productions, which are now playing: Sharron Matthews: Full Dark and Marathon of Hope.
