Art & Art History Students’ Design Sale Jan. 21 & 23
The Art and Art History program is putting on their annual Design Sale on Tuesday, January 21 and Thursday, January 23, 2014, from noon until 6pm in the B-wing of Trafalgar campus (1430 Trafalgar Rd., Oakville).
Patrons can expect all kinds of creative and designer jewelry, bags, crafts and baked goods.
All items for sale are made by second and third year design students from the Art and Art History program. Every year, students are asked to design, create and package (create advertising and labels for) an item in multiples for sale to the public. The project teaches art students how to gauge their target audience, pitch a prototype of their idea, and sell the product.
Half the revenue goes back to students, hopefully to cover their costs, and the other half goes towards funding Buff, our Art and Art History publication of student work. Any additional money raised is used for student awards the following year. Design 2 students also provide baked good for the sale and Design 4 students partially grade the project, so it’s a great, collaborative design project and fundraiser.
We welcome community members in Oakville and across the greater Toronto area to visit our campus on January 21st and 23rd to support our promising young artists in the Art and Art History program.
