Three Sheridan alumni get Oscar nominations

Big Hero 6, The Boxtrolls and How to Train Your Dragon 2

The list for this year’s Academy Award nominations were released this morning and – no surprise to us – three Sheridan alumni have received recognition for their work in animation.

Chris Williams (Big Hero 6), Graham Annable (The Boxtrolls) and Dean DeBlois (How to Train Your Dragon 2) will face-off against each other in the Best Animated Feature Film category. DeBlois meanwhile just won a Golden Globe award for Best Director – Animated Feature Film also for How to Train Your Dragon 2. He received an Academy Award nomination in 2011 for the first film, How to Train Your Dragon.

Chris Williams meanwhile was nominated for an Academy Award in 2009 for the film Bolt and won a PRIME-TIME Emmy in 2010 for Prep and Landing. Finally, this is Graham Annable’s first nomination as a director for his work on the Boxtrolls.
