FAAD’s 2015 graduate success stories

Graduating students from Sheridan’s Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design will be convocating on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Misssisauga’s Living Arts Centre. In honour of our graduating class, we are highlighting some of their inspirational stories.

Vanessa Sears, Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance
Vanessa Sears is part of the first graduating class of the Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance. Vannessa was involved in Sheridan’s theatre production Brantwood and recently walked into her first day of rehearsal for a leading role in Kinky Boots, presented by Mirvish Productions to play the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

Jordan Scott, Bachelor of Craft and Design
2015 Gardiner Award winner for “Best in Show.” More on Jordan’s story is featured in our blog.

 

Katy Scarlett-Meger, Interior Decorating
2015 Canadian Decorator’s Association award winner (Gold).

 

Taylor Shappert, Journalism Print
Taylor overcame a near fatal car accident in 2009 which caused her severe brain damage and memory loss. She was told she would never go to school again but came to Sheridan as a Journalism student in 2013 and excelled—-winning a Toronto Star award for photography in her first year.

 

Reece Rowat, Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance
Currently, he is cast at Rainbow Stage in their production of West Side Story

 

Iwona Kozibroda, Interior Decorating
2015 Canadian Decorator’s Association award winner (Silver).

 

Jessica Toczko, Bachelor of Photography
Graduating with a GPA close to 4.0 who has succeeded immensely in spite of serious health related obstacles.

 

Nick Kattis, Journalism Broadcast
Nick was project lead for Broadcast’s Emerge Award winning website #WhatAreTheChances and Valedictorian for the 2015 class. He received a job offer from Global Medic and will likely report to Nepal following graduation.

 

Kim Truong, Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance
Kim is currently cast at Rainbow Stage with fellow graduate Reece Rowat in their production of West Side Story

 

Bryden Rutherford, Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance
Bryden was cast in the play Marry Poppins at the Lower Ossington Theatre in Toronto

 

Lea Beauvais, Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance
Lee will be part of the 2015 Stephenville Theatre Festival in Newfoundland

 

Cameron Francis, Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance
Cameron will be at the Charlottetown Festival for their production of Anne & Gilbert

 

Amanda Lera, Media Arts
Completed her first year Media Arts diploma while working full time night job in a nursing home. Maintained a high GPA and was the recipient of the Shaw Media Journalism/Media Award for Most Outstanding Graduate

 

Mollie Brown, Journalism Broadcast
After completing her placement Mollie was hired to do freelance work for Global News as part of their online group

 

 

Lucas Metz, Journalism Broadcast
Lucas received the highly coveted placement position at CBC’s London Bureau. Is currently working with a former Sheridan broadcast graduate
