Sheridan Media Arts alumni win four awards at 48-Hour Film Festival in Toronto
Sheridan’s Media Arts alumni Gayle Ye, Bea Macapagal, Braedon Grosse, Michael Peeling, Larica Perera, Melanie McKechnie, Leonardo Sciara were awarded four awards on – Sunday, November 22nd, 2015 – at the Toronto 48-Hour Film Festival winning four awards. Their team The Mighty Morphin Hermione Grangers was awarded 2nd runner up in the Best Film category for their film “Christmas Evil” along with winning Best Costume, Best Writing and the Audience Choice Award for the favorite film in their category.
The competition consisted of creating a finished film from conception to final delivery in 48 hours. Sheridan’s alumni team were assigned a character, line of dialogue, prop and genre to incorporate into the film. They ended up creating their film “Christmas Evil” which competed under the horror film category.
Out of 59 films that were created during the weekend, Sheridan’s submission was screened amongst the top 17 films of the competition. On November 22nd the best films of the Toronto 48-Hour Film Project were presented at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema followed by an awards show.
