Theatre Sheridan’ Legally Blonde primed for premiere at the Milton Centre for the Arts

Theatre Sheridan’ musical production of Legally Blonde is set to premiere this Thursday, December 3rd, 2015 at the Milton Centre for the Arts with performances scheduled until Tuesday, December 10th, 2015. With music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and book by Heather Hach, the show features lead character Elle Woods whose life is turned upside-down when her boyfriend, Warner, breaks up with her so he can start getting serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove that being true to oneself never goes out of style. Playing Elle is fourth-year Bachelor of Music Theatre student Kelsey Lacombe who began her musical theatre career at Rainbow Stage in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her credits include West Side Story, The Producers, Annie, Footloose (Rainbow), Chess (Theatre Sheridan), Les Feux Follets (Charlottetown Festival).

The show was relocated to the Milton Centre for the Arts after a small fire damaged Sheridan’s MacDonald Heaslip Theatre on October 20th, 2015. The theatre will be re-opened in January 2016 with Sheridan’s production of Damn Yankees scheduled to premiere on February 16, 2016 running until February 18, 2016.

Another Theatre Sheridan production – The Enlightenment of Percival Von Schmootz – will also make its debut tomorrow at Sheridan’s Studio Theatre. The musical, with music by Michael Kooman and book and lyrics by Chris Dimond, was developed last year as part of Sheridan’s Canadian Music Theatre Project.
