“A Voice for Change: The Laura Hillier Story” wins First Prize in TVO’s Short Doc Contest 2018
BFTV student Sarah Gonyea’s short documentary film A Voice for Change: The Laura Hillier Story won first prize and the People’s Choice Award in TVO’s Short Doc Contest 2018. The film focuses on the story of Laura Hillier and her battle with leukemia, detailing her determination and efforts to change Canada’s health-care system so that more patients can have the resources they need for treatment.
The film was also screened at The Redline International Film Festival in May 2018, where it won Best Documentary (Short) and Best Short Film. The Redline International Film Festival is based in Toronto, Ontario and showcases indie short-films from artists world-wide.
