On November 27, 2018 Sheridan College was one of the select locations in Ontario to host a screening of Design Canada, a new documentary film following Canada’s heritage of graphic design. The film screened in Sheridan’s SCAET building at the Trafalgar campus, and was well received by guests, students, and faculty.
This past weekend, a team of Sheridan’s second year Industrial Design students won first place in Rethink Tires, a design challenge sponsored by Ontario Tire Stewardship. Students were asked to address the needs of the Artscape building on Shaw Street in Toronto using recycled tire materials. The goal of the challenge is to ignite creativity and innovative environmental landscape architecture and industrial design while showcasing the aesthetics, functionality and high performance of Ontario tire-derived products. Sheridan’s team placed first in the Industrial Design category, winning a $3,000 scholarship. The group of four consists of Alexandra D’Oliveira, Patrick Marchent, Michael Mofina and Neil Smith.
