Media Arts students contribute to documentary Giants of Africa

Sheridan Media Arts students Matt Hearn and Natalie Leppik had the opportunity this past weekend to work with Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) as sound editors on the film Giants of Africa, which kicked off the NBA All-Star Festivities last weekend in Toronto from Friday, February 12 to February 14. MLSE producer Josiah Rothenberg reached out to Stephen Barden, Media Arts professor and Music Applied to Stage, Screen and Interactive Visual Environments (MASSIVE) program coordinator, who is also a well known basketball fan.

Media Arts, Advanced TV and Film Faculty Return from Buenos Aires Conference

Advanced Film and Television Coordinator Jean Desormeaux and Media Arts faculty John Helliker recently attended a conference in Buenos Aires about changes in digital film technologies, and Jean had this to say about his experience: This September, John Helliker and I attended CILECT 2013 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Conference itself was hosted by the Argentinian school Escuela Nacional de Experimentacion y Realiacion Cinematografica (ENERC) and its dean, Pablo Rovito. 73 schools from 36 countries attended on this occasion. The International Association of Film and Television Schools (Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision – CILECT), of which Sheridan is a long time member, is an invaluable source of innovation, intellectual discussion, as well as networking potential.
