Sheridan’s Bachelor of Animation graduate Melody Wang received the “Best Animation” student shorts award for her film The Casebook of Nips and Porkington at TIFF’s Top 10 Student Shorts Event. Wang was also awarded a cash prize of $1,000 courtesy of the Directors Guild of Canada, two tickets to the Directors Guild of Canada Awards and a Sales & Industry Pass to the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. Returning for its second year, (previously known as Student Showcase) Canada’s Top Ten Student Shorts lineup shined a spotlight on the next generation of homegrown talent. Prizes were awarded to student films in the live action and animation categories in a ceremony held on Friday, January 15, 2016 in Toronto, ON.
Two Bachelor of Animation students from Sheridan College – Melody Wang and Taha Neyastani – will have their short films highlighted as part of the Toronto Film Festival’s (TIFF) Canada’s top 10 Film Festival event beginning on Friday, January 8th 2016 and running until Sunday, January 17th, 2016. Established in 2001, the festival celebrates and promotes contemporary Canadian cinema and raises awareness of Canadian achievements in film.
